Euro-lagers are killing off the market for traditional British ales and threatening both large and small brewers, according to a feature in The Daily Telegraph.

Pressure groups such as the Campaign for Real Ale are complaining about Interbrew's effective monopoly should the Bass takeover be approved.

Smaller brewers such as Fullers and Shepherd Neame are depending on niche marketing for their brands, but Deutsche Bank brewing analyst Graham Eadie says it will be increasingly difficult for smaller brewers to get their products to the public.
