Pret A Manger, the Bridgepoint-backed chain, is to up its presence at transport hubs next year, with further openings in tube stations, MCA has learnt.

The Clive Schlee-led group, which already operates site in Hammersmith and King’s Cross tube stations, also expects to be opening in Baker Street and South Kensington tube stations next year. It is thought that the company is yet to decide on whether these new sites will operate under is smaller Petit Pret model.

At the same time, the company has taken on the Coffee Dogs site outside King’s Cross station.

Earlier this summer, the group, which has over 400 sites across the world, began the rollout of the Petit Pret model in transport hubs in Hong Kong.

The expansion of Petit Pret comprised one at the central Hong Kong station, another in Olympian city and another at the Kowloon Bay mass transit railway station.

The QSR kiosks offer Best of Pret menu selections.

The Food to Go (FTG) market now accounts for over two in every five eating out occasions, the latest MCA data has shown.

The Food To Go Tracker Q3 2016 shows frequency increasing at all day-parts year-on-year, with average spend up at breakfast, lunch and for snacking occasions.

The report highlights growing trends towards less structured eating behaviours, ever increasing product availability and rising mobility all underpinning FTG’s increasing popularity.
