The owners of Pilpel, the Middle-Eastern street food concept, and healthy Mediterranean takeaway format Badolina, have confirmed they plan to open neighbouring units for both in the City.

As revealed by MCA last month, founders Uri Dinay and Joseph Cohen have secured two units at the mixed-used development at 21 Lime Street, which already houses a Coco di Mama, for openings before the end of the year.

One will open under its five-strong Pilpel concept and the other will be the second opening for Badolina, which currently operates a site in Bishopsgate.

Dinay said: “We have always had an ambition to open in the Leadenhall Market area and 21 Lime Street presented the perfect opportunity.”

Sammy Weinbaum, of agents CDG Leisure, which advised Pilpel on the deal, said: “Where the casual dining market seems to have taken a dip, the grab-and-go sector seems to be thriving. CDG Leisure has been retained to secure Pilpel its next three sites in the next 12 months.”

The company also operates Barraka in Spitalfields.
