Caffè Nero Group-owned Harris + Hoole will close 26 of its 41 UK locations following the conclusion of its partnership with supermarket chain Tesco.

The World Coffee Portal reports the coffee chain will continue to focus on standalone sites and has a “robust” pipeline of high street stores.

Harris + Hoole was established in 2012 by Andrew, Nick and Laura Tolley, with investment from the British supermarket chain.

In 2016, Tesco purchased the remaining 51% holding in the company to take full control of the business.

However, it sold the company to Caffè Nero Group in June 2016 for an undisclosed sum.

A spokesperson for the company said, “Harris + Hoole has a strong store opening and growth plan for 2023 and beyond. We are focused on standalone stores in the best locations for our target customer market,”

”Our existing agreement with Tesco comes to a natural conclusion over several months and we’re grateful for our partnership with them and wish them well for the future. Our pipeline for our high street stores remains robust.”

The brand’s 15 standalone stores are all located in the southeast of the UK, with 10 in London and single sites in Essex, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire and West Sussex.
