Deli No 1, the north east café group, has opened its second site in Beverley in East Yorkshire with plans to expand further.

The Beverley site is part of the town’s Flemingate development of stores and leisure units including a Costa and a Patisserie Valerie concession in Debenhams.

Deli No 1, founded by Daniel Moxon, opened its first site last year in St Andrews Quay in Kingston upon Hull and is securing an additional site in Hull.

The concept serves artisan sandwiches and coffee as well as a range of fine foods from around the world.

This is the first phase of the Flemingate development, whcih will be expanded to include a six-screen, 1,000-seat, Parkway cinema in December and more shops and restaurants joining the line-up in the spring.

Dominic Gibbons, managing director of property developers Wykeland Group, said: “We are delighted to have opened today. Flemingate looks fantastic, our retailers and cafés have done a spectacular job, and the feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. Flemingate has been ten years in the making, but today is a just reward for all of the hard work from everyone involved.

“Flemingate was conceived to be very much a part of Beverley, to extend the town centre, add even more reasons to visit the town, and to provide a further boost to Beverley’s economy. Today is a major step in achieving that, and we have more to come.”
