AMT Coffee managing director Matt Cundrick has confirmed the coffee shop chain is exploring options to safeguard the future of the business.

In a statement, the MD said the company was working its advisors at Interpath Advisory to “explore options”.

It was reported in The Sunday Times that the business was poised to collapse after being hit by the move to working from home, with the company lining up Interpath to put it into administration.

“Last week, [we] filed court documents that will help us in progressing a transaction, which we’re confident we’ll be able to deliver,” Cundrick said.

“In the meantime, it’s very much business as usual.”

The company was founded in 1993 by Alistair McCallum-Toppin and brothers Angus and Allan who were looking to bring the espresso-based coffee of their Seattle home to the UK.

It currently operates approximately 50 coffee bars and kiosks in airports, hospitals and railway stations.
