Charterhouse Development Capital is considering offering Scottish & Newcastle £1bn for Center Parcs. The private equity firm is looking at an eventual merger with its Landal Green Parks, Europe's third biggest holiday village company.
Analysts are dubious about the match, citing differences in quality between the two firms' park accommodation. Cinven, CVC and Doughty Hanson are also likely to show an interest.
