Budweiser has finalised a sponsorship deal with the football club Manchester United.

The Anheuser-Busch brand, which also sponsors the World Cup, is expected to help the club promote a tour of the US in 2003. The contract is thought to be worth about £1m per annum.

Budweiser will also replace UK lager brand Carling, which was paying just £250,000 a year, as the club's official beer.

o The Government has vowed to stop the Football Association naming the new Wembley Stadium after a potential sponsor like MacDonald's.
