Hospitality and leisure employees who uses IT lose more than 25 minutes a day of productive time due to technology issues, research from Managed 24/7 reveals.

Back office staff in the sector in lose more time to IT issues than any other sectors polled, according to the managed IT services business.

The top issues experienced in the last year were slow running systems and equipment (57%), failures in connection (55%), outdated kit or software (24%) and systems crash lasting more than four hours (22%).

Managed 24/7 said poor IT was affecting the UK’s economic productivity and could cost UK PLC an estimated £35bn per year over all.

John Pepper, chief executive and Founder of Managed 24/7, said: “The UK is facing a productivity crisis. The UK currently ranks seventh in the G7 and 17th in the G20 for productivity per person, and fixing our outdated and poorly managed IT systems and support should play a significant role in closing this gap, especially in the UK hospitality and leisure sector.”

All figures are from YouGov with a sample size of 2,015 private sector employees.
