The latest Deloitte Consumer Tracker shows a fall in consumer confidence in Q2 2015 with the first decline for 18 months in sentiment on disposable income.

However growth in discretionary spend continued to be focused on the leisure sector, with spending on going out, eating out and going on holiday continuing to rise in the second quarter of 2015.

London saw the steepest decline in overall confidence – down six points. Consumers living in London and the south east are now displaying the lowest level of confidence of any of the major regions. Meanwhile, confidence in the north rose for the second quarter and is now nine points higher than when the survey began.

The outlook for the rest of the year is more positive with consumers are planning to increase their spending on discretionary categories in the third quarter of 2015.
