Britons spend £76 million per day eating breakfast away from home, data supplied to M&C has revealed.

One in three Brits now eat breakfast out of the home at least once a week, the data commissioned by purchasing company Beacon showed.

Coinciding with the AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds’ backed Breakfast Week, the research revealed that the English cooked breakfast reigns supreme, with 65% of people choosing it as their go to breakfast when eating out.

It also showed that one in five Brits would choose an international breakfast option over a traditional cooked breakfast, speciality eggs or cereal.

Continental breakfasts consisting of croissants, cheese and cold meats were most popular with 62% of respondents, meanwhile only 38% said they would choose an American style dish of waffles or pancakes.

Of the 2000 people surveyed last June, 80% said they considered breakfast to be the most important meal of the day.
