A new online service will enable you order real ale by the cask. Or at least by the five-litre mini cask or 10 or 20 litre polypin, Website www.beer4home.co.uk will make it possible for you to order true, cask-conditioned ale online, and have it delivered straight to your residence. The site promises to deliver all orders within 24 hours of their extraction from the cask. It will even email details of how best to store and serve the beer. The site organisers, who are members of Camra, promise that you will get your beer within a week of your order being placed, although you will need to leave a lead time of seven working days if you require a delivery on a specific date. In addition, Saturday and Sunday deliveries are not possible at this time. You will need to order a minimum of 20 litres a time, and discounts are available for mixed orders from the same brewery. Priced according to strength, prices start at £17.49 for five litres, £29.90 for ten litres, and £49.99 for 20 litres. So far, breweries involved with the site include Abbey Ales, Belvoir, Breconshire, Goffs, Itchin Valley and Kelburn. Also featured are Northern Brewing, Springhead, Wylam and Stewart Brewing. Deliveries will be made by Amtrak Winetrack and cover most of the UK. All prices quoted include VAT and delivery. The first Beer4home deliveries are scheduled for 24 November 2005.
