Terre et Vin du Monde, which represents 400 of Frances’ top wine producers, has issued a strong warning against the introduction of genetically modified (GM) vines. It said the real environmental impact could not be determined for possibly up to 50 years or more and by then the results could be irreversible. Its warning comes after France’s national agricultural research institute, INRA, decided to resume trials of GM vines. Financial Times 10/07/04 page 10 The Daily Telegraph 10/07/04 page 16
