Bordeaux lovers are competing to get hold of what is one of the best vintages for 50 years thanks to a near-perfect summer last year. American wine writer Robert Parker, whose pen can make or break a wine, has given more than 50 wines “outstanding” verdicts of at least 95-100 points, which is four times as many as usual. The great wine rush means prices to match: St Emilon’s Quinault St L’Enclose, for example, will sell for about £250 a case, 85% more than last year. The Daily Telegraph 29/04/06 page 3
