Shepherd Neame, the Kent brewer and pub operator, has secured an agreement with American brewer Boston Beer Company to brew the Samuel Adams Boston Lager brand under licence in the UK. The 4.8% ABV beer is set to be available in the on-trade from mid-April, served in two-third pint glasses, and also available in bottles. It would be the first time the brand has been brewed under licence in this country. Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame said: “This partnership with the Boston Beer Company is a landmark event for US craft beer in the UK and further strengthens our enviable portfolio of distinctive international lagers. “We have enjoyed great success brewing and marketing Asahi Super Dry under licence in the UK and look forward to extending that success with Samuel Adams Boston Lager, building outlets and sales volumes in both the on- and off-trades.”
