Lancashire brewer and pub operator Thwaites has appointed Steve Magnall, currently deputy managing director at rival Greene King’s brewing and brands division, to head its beer operation. Magnall, who has worked at Greene King for eight years, is to start his role of managing director of Thwaites Beer Company in April 2012. Thwaites chief executive Richard Bailey said: “This is an exciting time for us as we progress our plans to move to a new site and build a new brewery, we continue to grow our own brewed beers including our mainstream and seasonal ales and increase our presence outside our heartland. “I am delighted that we have been able to attract Steve into the company and he has much to offer us as we develop our business.“ Magnall previously worked in the food manufacturing industry and is also a non-executive director of Cask Marque.
