Heineken, the international brewer, has declined to comment on reports that it has launched a bid for Brazilian drinks producer Grupo Petropolis. The Brazilan company produces beers brands including Lokal, Petra, Itaipava and Crystal, along with vodka brand Blue Spirit and energy drink TNT. It’s the country’s third largest brewer, with a 9.6% market share and turnover reportedly of £2.3bn in 2009. News of Heineken’s bid was reported in Dutch publication Het Financieele Dagblad. Heineken declined to comment. Grupo Petropolis was founded in 1994 and in 2010 entered a partnership with German brewer Weltenburguer to produce beers in accordance with the Bavarian company’s recipe.
