Carlsberg in Denmark has had to dump 3.3m cans of lager after the contents turned sour and disgusting.

Carlsberg's communications manager, Staffan Bremander, said: "We have discarded 3.3 million cans because the beer stank and tasted sour and was cloudy." However, he said, the cost of dumping the cans was "minor".

Beer in cans has only recently been allowed on sale in Denmark, and the company has been suffering problems since their introduction, which have culminated in the departure of Carlsberg's supply chain director, Jette W. Knudsen.
