Rupert Thompson of Refresh is to revive the classic real ale, Brakspear’s Bitter. His company bought a twenty-year licence to brew Brakspear’s beers and his head brewer Jeremy Moss plans to duplicate both the original recipe and brewing conditions. Thompson is optimistic about selling the beer in today’s dismal market. He says the decline in consumption of real ale is slowing. Brakspear’s sold its Henley town centre brewery and gave up brewing real ales in 2002. Financial Times 24/07/04 page W5 (Food and Drink, Weekend)
