The Black Sheep in Masham, North Yorkshire, has been selected by the Good Pub Guide as Brewery of the Year for 2006. The brewery was founded in 1992 by Paul Theakston, fifth generation of the famous Theakston brewing family. Black Sheep brews 13m pints of beer annually and has over 700 accounts between Derbyshire and the Scottish Borders. According to the Good Pub Guide: "Good value can mean exceptional quality and the Black Sheep Brewery stands out for this. Their excellent beers are sold regularly by nearly 100 of the main entries and in three of these, it was the cheapest beer on sale."
