Analysts believe sales of beer will outstrip vodka in Russia for the first time this year.

Business Analytica estimates beer consumption will top $6.5m (£4.2m) in 2002 compared with $6.3m for vodka.

Some $400m (£259m), a quarter of Russia's annual advertising budget, is spent on beer commercials.
