Allied Domecq has mounted an investigation into the conduct of its marketing division. The probe comes after it suspended Kim Manley, chief marketing officer, in September, after allegations by another Allied employee about "personal financial irregularities". Allied said it was unhappy the inquiry had come to light because it was an internal matter. The Financial Mail says it has been told that a group of employees in his department is also under investigation. The newspaper says the issue is thought to centre on arrangements with suppliers such as research companies and advertising agencies. A company spokesman denied this although he admitted he did not know details of the allegations. He said there had been no financial irregularity and said the issues was not of financial significance to investors. Another company spokesman implied money had been involved.
