The newly-formed Beer Academy, which is currently looking for someone to fill the £40,000-a-year post of director, has received a further shot in the arm, as Adnams became the latest brewer back the scheme. The Suffolk-based brewer became the latest of a string of companies who will share their knowledge of beer and the market with students on the scheme. Adnams will hold an initial Beer Academy session in February, entitled 'Basic Beer Appreciation', with 20 delegates being invited to take part in an educational seminar. Simon Loftus, Adnams' chairman, said: "The Beer Academy is an important initiative, which will help to broaden people's knowledge of beer in many different ways. "We feel that the Beer Academy gives us the perfect platform to expand knowledge of beer in the trade, whether that be among bartenders, publicans or supermarket buyers."
