Nightclub owner Peter Stringfellow has been drawn into the City Slickers share-dealing investigation.

Two journalists from The Mirror were sacked for gross misconduct after trading in shares that they tipped in their Slicker column.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) discovered a string of e-mails bearing Stringfellow's name during an investigation at The Mirror's Canary Wharf offices.

The DTI interviewed Stringfellow last month.

Stringfellow refused to comment for legal reasons. He would not comment on whether he bought shares tipped by Slickers James Hipwell and Anil Bhoryrul for legal reasons. The two journalists were regular visitors to Stringfellow's lap-dance nightclub in London's West End.
