KFC’s UK sales were up 16% in Q3, the best performing territory in the Yum! global estate. Yum! CEO David Gibbs, described the results as “encouraging” and that they demonstrated the “resilience of the Yum! portfolio as Yum! generated year-over-year core operating profit growth, continued to reopen temporarily closed restaurants and achieved global same-store sales growth of approximately flat, in aggregate, for our open store base. “For the second consecutive quarter, digital sales increased by more than $1bn over the prior year and set a single quarter record of $4bn.

Slim Chickens, the Boparan Restaurant Group-owned fast causal concept, has entered into its second franchise agreement. The new deal between Boparan and franchisee KK Restaurants SW will see the brand open five restaurants across the south west of England, with the first due to open in Exeter next month. The Exeter restaurant will be Slim Chickens’ tenth UK site, and second franchise-operated location following its Manchester Trafford Centre opening last month with partner JRK Restaurants.
Five Guys will push on with its expansion plans despite the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, with at least three new openings set before the end of the year.
Indian restaurant concept Dishoom has expanded its at-home range with the addition of a vegan sausage naan roll kit. The business launched its first at-home offer – the bacon naan roll kit – during the March lockdown, but following calls from plant-based consumers has created a second kit for its online store. The vegan sausage naan roll kit will include ingredients for two rolls with masala chai, alongside cooking instructions, for £16 including delivery.
