Wagamama, the fast-casual noodle chain, is to look at further opportunities to introduce sushi into more of its restaurants after opening its 80th site in the UK today in Cheshire The group, which is backed by Duke Street Capital, made its first move into the sushi market, with the launch of a trial menu and takeaway service at its site in London’s Mansion House earlier this year. M&C Report understands that the chain is now looking to add sushi to further sites in the capital and in its Leamington Spa restaurant, which is due to open in June. This new site is also expected to feature some new design tweaks for the company. The chain’s 80th UK site opened at the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet shopping centre, Ellesmere Port. The group, which is led by Steve Hill, is also believed to have secured sites in the O2 centre in Finchley, Dorchester, MediaCity in Salford,York and at the Southside shopping centre development in London’s Wandsworth. Property consultant Cushman & Wakefield has been retained to aid the expansion, with plans to open 20 sites per year.
