Wagamama, the fast-casual noodle chain, has secured a further two sites as part of its plans to eventually expand to 300 UK restaurants. The 72-strong chain is to open on the site of the former JJB Sports unit in York town centre in early December. The group, which will also open at Westfield Stratford in September, has also secured a site at the Regent Hotel in Leamington town centre. It has taken a 19-year lease on a ground floor unit at the site and expects to open early next year. The Steve Hill-led chain recently secured a site at the MediaCity scheme on Salford Quays, Manchester, which also open 2012. Earlier this year, Duke Street, which acquired the chain from Lion Capital for around £215m, announced plans to expand Wagamama to 300 UK restaurants. Property consultant Cushman & Wakefield has been retained to aid the expansion, with plans to open 20 sites per year.
