San Carlo, the family-owned restaurant group, is putting the finishing touches to its second venue in the Middle East, as part of a plan to launch 22 restaurants in the region. It will later this month make its debut in Kuwait City’s 360 Mall shopping centre after opening its first eaterie in the Gulf – also in Kuwait – in October 2009. The group, which opened its first site in Birmingham in 1992, is undertaking the expansion of its Signor Sassi fine-dining format in the Gulf through a partnership with Americana Group. The group, which was founded by Carlo Di Stefano, operates restaurants in Birmingham, Bristol, Leicestor, Liverpool and Manchester under the San Carlo format as well as its flagship Signor Sassi in Knightsbridge.
