The Restaurant Group (TRG) will next week unveil a new Edwinn’s restaurant in Cambridge. It is the first Edwinn’s to open since TRG bought the business last year. The new site, which takes the Edwinn’s business to six restaurants, will open in Cambridge on the site of a former Filling Station. Andrew Page, chief executive of TRG, said: “We believe it will trade much better as an Edwinn’s – it’s a very nice location, near the river, and should appeal to lots of people there.” The group acquired the Edwinn’s and Blubeckers concepts from CI Traders, the Jersey-based conglomerate, for £27m. Since the deal, TRG has opened three Blubeckers, in South Hanningfield, near Chelmsford, Cadnam, on the edge of the New Forest, and Oxford. Blubeckers is food-led country pub concept while Edwinn’s is more of a premium brasserie offer. TRG still operates four Filling Stations, which has a motor-diner theme, in Scotland.
