Robert Tchenguiz has won the battle for control of Spanish-themed restaurant chain La Tasca. He made an unconditional offer of £104m through bidding vehicle consisting of his own company R20, Iceland’s Kaupthing Bank and private equity group TFT. The offer received 53.9% shareholder backing. La Tasca’s non-executive chairman John Barnes and its non-executive director Ian Edward will resign with immediate effect. Rival bidder Tragus, owner of the Café Rouge and Bella Italia chains, decided not to table a higher offer. Shares in La Tasca closed up 1/2p at 197? p.
