San Carlo, the Italian restaurant chain, is looking to expand Cicchetti, its tapas-style concept, in 2012, after the first site under the format had a “fantastic year”. The privately-owned company, run by Carlo Di Stefano and his son, Marcello, launched Cicchetti 12 months ago on the ground floor of the House of Frazer department store in Manchester. It is now looking at locations in Birmingham and London to open further sites under the concept, with revenues at the Manchester unit reportedly three times ahead of forecasts. Marcello Di Stafano told Insider Media: “It’s been a fantastic year for Ciccheti, we put our heart and soul into delivering a fresh and exciting dining experience with great food underpinning everything. We're actively looking for more sites in London and Birmingham and hope to have our second Ciccheti open by 2012.”
