Gary Rhodes, the chef and entrepreneur, is to open a new restaurant called Rhodes West on the site of the currently closed Dome building on Plymouth’s waterfront. The high-profile chef, which operates the Rhodes W1 restaurant and brasserie at the Cumberland Hotel in London, plus Rhodes Twenty-Four in the City, hopes to open a high-end restaurant, brasserie and bar on the site. Opened in 1989 by the Queen, the Dome closed in 2006. The chef, who also operates two restaurants in Dubai and a further venture in Grenada, previously operated the Rhodes South eaterie in Christchurch, Dorset, which he pulled out of last year.
