High-profile chef Gordon Ramsay is to open two more casual dining outlets in London next year following last month’s opening of his Bread Street Kitchen restaurant in the City. According to Restaurant, sister title to M&C Report, Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) is to open Union Street Cafe early next year. It will occupy a 12,500 sq ft, two-storey site in Southwark, on the corner of Union Street and Great Suffolk Street. Restaurant reports that the site is likely to be pitched at the upper end of the middle market, but with a more neighbourhood feel than Bread Street Kitchen. Details of the second London restaurant, due to open before the Olympics, are unconfirmed. The expansion follows a restructuring and review of GRH’s estate after the departure of chief executive Chris Hutcheson in 2010.
