Prezzo, owner of the eponymous Italian chain and Mexican format Chimichanga, announced that half-year pre-tax profits had almost doubled from £1.3m to £2.3m. Turnover was up to £15.9m from £9.1m last year, with current trading conditions described as "in line with management expectations". The company, which operates 60 restaurants, opened 12 during the half-year and has opened a further five so far in the second half. The group has funds of just over £4m to fund its future openings and said that, in view of continued expansion plans, it would not pay an interim dividend.
