Pod, the healthy fast food concept founded by Tim Hall, has secured three new sites in London, as it moves closer to its target of operating 50 units by 2014. The 15-strong group will open the three new sites in March in Central St. Giles opposite Union Jacks; just south of the Hoxton Hotel on Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch; and at a prominent site in the City on the junction of Bow Lane & Queen Victoria Street. The Great Eastern Street opening will consolidate the success of the group’s flagship site at City Road, which opened in November last year, complete with new design. Hall told M&C Report: “We’re 7% up like-for-like so far in 2012 at mature stores as our pioneering healthy fast food model continues to win market share from the sandwich chains. Pod is now the leading healthy, fast food brand in the UK measured by trading stores and our pace of expansion will continue throughout 2012.” The London-based chain, which is was founded in 2005 and is overseen day-to-day by Kate Skerritt, ex-Pret A Manger, started the year with 15 sites.
