Pizza Express, the c.400-strong Gondola Group-owned chain, has confirmed it has rolled out online ordering to the majority of its restaurants in the UK. As revealed by M&C Report earlier this year, the chain had been trialling the “click and collect” system, which allows customers to place orders and pay for them online for same-day collection, at its Baker Street site in London. The system allows consumers to order from work or at home and pick up a pizza at a set time of their choice from a dedicated section of the restaurant. Pizza Express has partnered with orderTalk, Inc., the leading provider of online ordering to the restaurant industry in the UK and the US to rollout the system. Nick Dodd, head of applications at Pizza Express, said: “This is a very exciting time for the business. We have spent some time searching for the right partner to deliver an on-line takeaway solution. Our restaurants have been very impressed with the simplicity of the solution, and customer feedback has been enormously encouraging.”
