Jamie Bianco Ltd has secured a third site for Jamie Oliver’s new concept Union Jacks, and its first outside London, in Winchester, Hampshire, as the brand takes an important step in becoming a national chain. The high-profile chef and partner Chris Bianco are understood to have acquired the former Pizza Hut site at the eastern end of the town’s high street with plans to open a unit this summer under their British-influenced, wood-fired flatbreads format. The Jamie Oliver Group has taken a 25-year lease on the c.3,500sq ft unit. The first site under the Union Jacks brand launched last November in the Central St Giles Piazza development in London’s West End. A second unit under the brand is set to open in Chiswick this spring. The group is thought to be exploring further opportunities in the capital for the concept. Jamie Oliver Restaurants appointed Vince Hanley, an experienced catering and hospitality operator, as operations director for the concept last September.
