Paloma Campbell has stepped down as UK managing director of Obika, the international mozzarella bar chain, M&C Report has learnt. Campbell, a former director at The Real Greek, has left the company after just eight months to work on number of different projects both inside and outside the restaurant industry. Last month, David Haimes, the former managing director of Itsu, the Japanese sushi bar chain, was appointed group chief executive of Obika. The business was established in 2004 in Rome by Silvio Ursini, a Naples-born executive with the Bulgari luxury brand. The chain, which specialises in recipes based on Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, currently operates a site in Selfridges, plus seven bars in Italy and individual outlets in Istanbul, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo and Toronto. The group will open its second site in the UK and 14th in total later this year, in London’s Canary Wharf.
