Yo! Sushi is to close its Edinburgh outlet to make way for a Filling Station - a chain offering burgers and tex-mex- style food which already has a site on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. The £1m Yo! outlet opened in the city two years ago, but Japanese restaurants have failed to flourish in the Scottish capital. Gillian Glover, food critic for The Scotsman, commented: "Edinburgh never fell in love with Japanese food, we don’t have the climate for it. "We prefer hot, thick and steamy rather than cold, sticky and slimy… however, anything which turns into a burger bar is a shame," she added. A Yo! Sushi spokeswoman said: "We have received some offers for the site. The site is slightly too large for us. We are considering the offers but nothing has been signed yet." It is reported that Yo! Sushi is looking for a new venue in Glasgow.
