Residents in Locks Heath, Hampshire, are celebrating after a decision by McDonald's not to build a new drive-through outlet in the town. The company said it had decided not to build any new outlets this year, preferring to concentrate on refurbishing its existing sites. McDonald's said: "Despite the fact we have planning permission for the site we have decided not to pursue the scheme, "All of our investment will this year - our 30th anniversary - be concentrated on refurbishing the restaurants we already have." The decision marks the end of a two-year battle between residents and McDonald's.
