Nando’s is to open its third site combining a restaurant and bar in September in Liverpool and its first national outlet to diversify from its traditional food-led offer. The 8,000sq ft restaurant in the Liverpool One development will feature a 400-cover dining area and a bar serving beers on draft and cocktails. The company launched its first venue to include a bar offering in London’s O2 Centre in June last year, followed by a second bar and restaurant site in Covent Garden in July. The group, which currently has 181 sites, plans to expand its portfolio to 214 outlets by the end of this financial year. It is set to open new restaurants in Southampton and Sheffield Valley next week. Nando’s is also set to roll out in Scotland with the opening of its second Edinburgh store in August on the site of a former McDonald’s unit.
