Nando’s, the fast-casual restaurant concept famous for its Peri Peri chicken, has made its debut in America. The company has opened a restaurant in the Penn Quarter area of Washington DC on the site of a former skateboard shop. It is the latest in a growing line of UK and European-based eating-out formats to set its sites on American expansion. Others include La Tasca, Pret A Manger, Vapiano and Wagamama. It is thought that the company plans to open about 10 restaurants in the Washington area, before assessing its rollout options in other parts of North America.
