McDonald’s is to open 10 new drive-through sites in China over the next year in an effort to boost margins in the country. Guy Russo, international relationship partner for greater China said that, while the group’s operations in the country were profitable, "we are not happy with our results in terms of profits, comparable sales and margins". The announcement came as McDonald’s said it was planning an IPO of its Chipotle chain in the US. The company’s shares rose 5.3% on the news.
