McDonald's has taken out double page adverts in The Sunday Times and News of the World to promote its new children's Happy Meal menu as a healthy option. The adverts focus on the new Happy Meal Choice Chart, which gives consumers practical advice and nutritional information about food available. The adverts are aimed at parents concerned with fears that McDonald's is contributing to rising levels of obesity in children and says the new menu "helps you [to] make the choice that's right for your child". Happy Meal Combinations allows customers to build their own meal from a selection including traditional Happy Meal options like Chicken McNuggets, and new options like Chicken Grills and Carrot Sticks. McDonald's is to spend £3.65m promoting its new menus.
