Health-conscious McDonald's has now started serving a burger without the bun in its 13,600 American restaurants. And they could soon be available in Britain in a bid to counter falling sales, as more customers follow the low-carbohydrate Atkins diet. The burgers come wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of bread and are served with a knife and fork. All beef, fish and chicken sandwiches will be offered in the same format in America from next month.
