Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) has launched its new American-style steakhouse concept called Miller & Carter in two former Beefeater sites it acquired from Whitbread in Wolverhampton and Ilford. The company expects to open a further nine other sites under the new concept by the end of February next year. It is currently re-branding and converting 50 of the pubs that it acquired from Whitbread in time for Christmas. The company will turn a further 50 of the 239 Beefeater and Brewer’s Fayre pubs it purchased during the summer into its brand before Easter, with the remainder to be rebranded by Christmas 2007. M&B plans to spend a total of £85m, around £400,000 per site, converting the former Whitbread venues and it hopes to increase weekly sales from £16,000 to £22,800.
