London is the most expensive city in the world in which to dine out, according to Zagat London Restaurants 2008. A three-course meal with a glass of wine including service now costs an average of £39.99, an increase on 2.9% from last year. In Paris the cost is £35.37, in Tokyo it is £35.10 and in New York £19.30. Londoners go out for dinner on average 2.5 times per week, less frequently than New Yorkers who dine out 3.4 times a week. Prices are set to rise further across the world as the cost of basic foodstuffs rise because more land is being given over to growing ethanol. Financial Times 22/9/07 page 4 (Life & Arts)
