The People’s Restaurant Group is exploring further strategic options for Little Chef, the roadside restaurant chain it acquired for £52m at the turn of the year, including a possible name change. The company’s new owners said they were in the very early stages of “exploring avenues” to revamp the Little Chef brand, and had not ruled out a change in the chain’s well-known logo. Simon Heath and Lawrence Wosskow, owners of The People’s Restaurant Group, had promised to compete with US fast food companies when they took over the Little Chef business. The group has already started to overhaul menus and cut prices at the 235-strong chain with the added promise of healthier options for diners. It also launched Coffee Tempo, its “grab and go” concept, which has already been rolled out to 34 Little Chef sites.
