Distiller Remy Martin and guidebook publisher Harden’s have named the best 20 new restaurants in the UK, in their combined Restaurant Remy Awards 2006. The awards are based on 93,000 reviews submitted to Harden’s by 8,000 domestic diners, who looked for passion and dedication from restaurateurs and their establishments. This year’s ten regional award winners were: Abstract, Inverness; Baraset Barn, Stratford-Upon-Avon; Black Door, Newcastle; The Cabinet, Hertfordshire; Forbury’s, Reading; The Priory Inn, Gloucestershire; Q Restaurant, Cornwall; Russell’s, Worcestershire; Secco Ristorante Salentino, Newcastle; and Wing’s, Manchester. London’s award winners were: Arturo, Bayswater; Camerino, Koba and Salt Yard, all in Fitzrovia; The Ledbury, Notting Hill; Fratelli la Bufula, Hampstead; The Gun, Docklands; Nuovi Sapori, Fulham; and Ottolenghi Upper Street and Sabor, both in Islington.
