La Tasca, the casual dining chain, is looking to add to its existing five-strong estate in the US. Speaking at M&C Report’s 2011 Restaurant Conference, chief executive Simon Wilkinson said that the group had two sites in the US in the pipeline. It currently operates five sites across Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. It hopes to add a further site in Washington and then open in a second city. Wilkinson said that the group was looking at either managing the sites itself or exploring the franchise route. The chain, which is currently rolling out its new Spanish Tapas Bar & Kitchen concept across its 65-strong estate, recently launched a new menu across its three La Vina-branded sites in the North West and hasn’t ruled out making further strategic openings under the brand. Wilkinson said: “There are certain sites that don’t work as a La Tasca, Chiswick for example, and we will take strategic decisions on these and see whether they would work as a La Vina, unbranded or under a different format completely.”
